Fresh off of learning some basics of Blender and receiving my early backed 3D Printer (AnkerMake), I wanted to try and create a product from scratch all on my own. It all started with a concept of what if I could make my own portable beat machine. As a longtime user of the Akai MPC and it's variations, it only was right that my design was inspired by that whole line of products. After a few different scribbles on my phone with my stylus, I came up with the initial design. The name is a salute to the music production team I am a part of named 'Mars Murkin' all while heavily leaning on the cube-shape.
First created the initial concept, then handsketched the design on my phone. Next I created an illstration of the concept and refined the components on the concept device. Then I took the illustration and conceptualized how I could turn this into both digital & physical products. Afterwards, I took these product concepts and built 3D models out of. Now that I had 3D models of the product concept I then adjusted the sizing for 3D printing. After rounds of printing prototypes to get the correct sizing and maintain product structural integreity, I created the Orbit Cube & Orbit Cube product bundles.
This is where I shamelessly plug the product itself... If you're interested, you can see what I still have available to purchase here at DosMef.com.
