My long-time friend and business partner Jaffar needed a new logo. We had already shared a company and branding but he was looking for something different and something to stand on his own. I took inspiration from an old logo design I created for his rap persona "J-Drizz." This brand design played on the J + D of the name along with black and white keys being embedded within the letter "D."
I really liked the keys concept from the J-Drizz logo and hearing Jaffar's new beat tag which was a play on the Jafar from Aladdin, I leaned on the serpent to tie-in with the audio connection. Of course, being heavily inspired by GI Joes Cobra, I wanted to flip the design in my own way and used the keys to stretch the serpent design. This allowed me to utilize the keys, have a retro shelby cobra look, all while any GI Joe fans will find familiarity in the serpent design..
